Description:

Gmail users experienced latency, unresponsiveness, and inability to load the Web UI for a duration of 22 hours, 46 minutes. From preliminary analysis, the root cause of the issue was an incompatibility with a third-party add-on following an update to Gmail front end servers.

Customer Impact:

Customers using the Gmail Web UI may have experienced increased latency or unresponsiveness when also using certain 3rd party addons.

Additional details:

This issue only affected the Gmail Web UI. Gmail iOS/Android apps could be used as a workaround.

Engineers mitigated the issue by rolling back the recent update to Gmail front end servers.

The issue with Gmail has been resolved for all affected users as of Wednesday, 2024-10-30 11:46 US/Pacific.
